Ten Places to go with kids in Chicago over St Patrick’s Day weekend in 2019. If you in from the burbs or from out of town and haven’t done some of the great things for your family in Chicago, there are terrific things to do:

1. Go to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade (find a safe place)

2. Shedd Aquarium – really terrific for kids and adults. If you are planning to go to a number of museums, they have a number of different kinds of passes that will save you money.

3. Lincoln Park Zoo –  FREE- Events

4. American Girl Place – located in Water Tower ( 835 N. Michigan Avenue) – they have shopping, dining, photo studio, doll hair salon.  Call 877-247-5223 for reservations.

5. Pizza. If your kids are not up for corned beef and cabbage, here are a few places for pizza – Lou Malnatis – 439 North Wells Street and at 805 S. State Street. There is also Giordanos at 730 N. Rush Street, 130 E. Randolph at Millennium Park or 233 W. Jackson .  For a 1950′s type diner, there is Ed Debevics at 640 North Wells Street  which is one of our favorites.
6. Museum of Science and Industry – south Chicago and an amazing museum. Located at 57th Street and Lake Shore Drive, Chicago 60637.
7.Lasertron and WhirlyBall – 1825 West Webster -Phone -773-486-7777. Great for teens and adults. Whirlyball combines lacrosse, hockey and basketball with bumper cars. You must be 4’6″ in height and 12 years or older. After 5pm, you must be 21 for Whirly Ball. Laser tag – teams compete (you come in and you are automatically assigned to a team or you can create your own) and you get a laser  gun and you deactivate other plays and who ever scores the most wins.
8. Legoland Discovery Center – It’s in Schaumburg…so not right downtown –about a 30 minute drive depending on traffic. They have a Lego Star Wars mini-land model display, a Lego factory, racers, construction, villages, jungle expedition, and more.  If you book on line, it is $15.50 to $19.99
9. Chicago Children’s Museum  at Navy Pier – the museum is great for younger kids. Cost is $15 per person.  Open 10am to 5pm daily, Thursday evenings 5-8pm and it is free on Thursdays night
10. Chicago Fed’s Money Museum Monday – Friday – 8:30am to 5pm. Located on the first floor of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago at 230 LaSalle Street on the corner of Jackson and LaSalle. Guided visit at 1pm- 30 minutes. FREE
