Events on Martin Luther King Jr Weekend in Buffalo, NY from January 18 to 20, 2020.
1.Winter Blast at Martin Luther King Jr. Park on January 20 from Noon to 2pm at the park casino. Pond Ice Skating (weather dependent), skate rental, Albright Knox Art Truck, Snowshoe trails, Buffalo Museum of Science, Face painting, cookie decorating, healthy snacks and beverages provided by Wegmans.
2. Martin Luther King Jr Breakfast on January 20, 2020 from 8am to 1pm at the the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center, 153 Franklin Street.
3. Winterfest in Tonawanda – January 16-20. Wine Tasting, Beer Garden, Toy Story Movie, Hay Rides, Live Music, Hockey Games, Outdoor Soft Ball, Fireworks, Skating, Swimming, Model Boats,Skating Pizza Party. Lincoln Arena, 1200 Parker Blvd., Tonawanda
4. MLK Day of Service at UB on January 20, 2020 from 8:30am to 1pm. Students will meet in the Student Union of the North Campus and are taken to a specific location in the Buffalo Community to participate in a community service activity. Transportation provided but an RSVP through UBLinked is required as space is limited.
5.Buffalo History Museum. FREE program on January 19 at 2pm to 4pm. The Afro-American Historical Society of the Niagara Frontier program is Dr. Gretchen Sorin, distinguished professor, author, exhibit curator, and director of the Cooperstown Graduate Program. She received her Ph.D. from SUNY Albany and has recently worked on her documentary and accompanying book, Driving While Black: African Americans on the Road in the Era of Jim Crow. Free to attend

13. January 20, 2020 from 9am to 4pm –MLK SPACE Dye and Sewing Camp at Fashion Lab NY, 1205 Hertel Ave., Buffalo.During the day, our young designers ages 8-13 will Design, SEW and Create! During the day you will sew American Girl Doll Clothing. Campers will choose from a variety of studio patterns. Learn more..the fee is $115.

15. FREE -Downhill Skiing at Chestnut Ridge Park in Orchard Park with new tow rope – which can bring up to 720 people per hour back up the hill. Wed- Friday – 3pm to7pm, Saturday,Sunday and Holidays- 10am to 7pm. Obviously, snow is required….but this is the first time in 20 years people can downhill ski.
16. Martin Luther King Jr. Day at Explore and More Children’s Museum- January 20 from 10am to 4pm. Music, storytelling, crafts and activities focusing on celebrating Dr. King’s life and teachings.As part of celebrating Dr. King, we ask guests to bring and donate mittens, hats or socks that will be distributed to the children residing at Gerard Place. Receive $3 off admission for your donation. Adults and kids are $11, under age 1 free. 130 Main Street.
