Best and Worst of Buffalo, NY- 2024– BoredomMD.com

Best

  1. Claudine Ewing on WGRZ- awesome anchor and broadcast journalist. We are so lucky to have her.
  2. Promotion and Marketing done by Ellicottville. Small town with huge image and events.
  3. West Falls Center for the Arts- while they have gotten notice and funding this year, the owners are amazing and enhance our community with music, memory cafes, veterans and kids programs. Kudos.
  4. Douglas Jamal- a developer that gets things done and is enhancing our city
  5. Best National Music Acts in 2024- Tedeschi Trucks, Pat Benatar and Kenny Wayne Shepherd- all art Artpark
  6. Best Local Music Performers in 2024-Strictly Hip, Hot Club of Buffalo, Songbirds (Fleetwood Mac tribute), Damone Jackson Outcome. We also liked the Talking Dead Heads and Dwayne Dopsie at Sportsmens.
  7. Best music location- Larkin Square
  8. Buffalo’s amazing parks, theater, live music.
  9. Buffalo really is a city of good neighbors more than any city in the US. Kindness counts.

Worst

  1. Terminal B
    1. Really—that is best name you could come up with- never have a name with terminal in it. We can do better. Rebrand it.
    2. We DO commend effort to develop the Outer Harbor
    3. No restrooms- $13 million and NO restrooms. Port-o-lets a mile away
    4. Dreadful parking
    5. Did not capitalize on beauty of the waterfront in stage design
    6. Stage area- two wings on right and left are waste of space- only at one end- some tables to eat. Any way to repurpose it now?
    7. In front of stage- wood area that restricts direct front view plus area in back of it- no standing or seating. So other than about 10 feet directly in front of the stage, the prime viewing area is restricted
    8. VIP –to right of stage- can barely see performers
    9. Pricing is very high
  2. Lack of Events at Canalside, Buffalo’s premier waterfront location
    1. While there was some pushback on one music event with a large crowd, there is no reason why the symphony and local bands could not play there.
    2. More events – water and otherwise need to be scheduled there.
  3. Proposed spending $1 Billion on the Route 33/Kensington Tunnel. Our viewpoint
  4. Buffalo businesses lack of promotion and marketing and general apathy and contentment relative to growing their businesses. There appears to be not ONE marketing course offered at the University of Buffalo, Buffalo State and Daemen..only Canisius offers a true marketing course.
  5. Most poorly managed business- Hamburg Gaming
    1. With friends, we went to see Patti Parks on Nov 22, 2024- a Friday night- great band that packs them in at Diamond Hawk.
    2. The music area was empty, the gaming area was empty and the restaurant was empty. Drink and gaming service was non-existent.
