Homeland Security and ICE Spending $45 Billion to Convert Warehouse to Detention Centers- March, 2026
By BoredomMD Total Views : 41 Daily Views : 40Homeland Security and ICE are Spending $45 Billion to Convert Warehouses to Detention Centers thanks to the Republican Congress. Previously, ICE’s Detention center budget was $3.4 Billion.
And, then there is the $74.85 Billion in funding from the One Big Beautiful Bill. Of the $74.85 billion in new funding, $45 billion was dedicated to detention capacity, and nearly $30 billion for hiring, training, and bonuses.
Between January, 2025 and March, 2026- there has been 600,000 illegal aliens deported. ICE detention as of early 2026 is around 70,000.
So, let’s divide 70,000 detainees into $45 BILLION for warehouse conversion…$642,857 per detainee. Of these 50,000 had no prior criminal record.
Meanwhile, we are requiring Medicaid recipients to work or do 80 hours of community service per month. This applies to those 19 to 64- excluded are pregnant women, caregivers of young children, and medically frail. Ok, let’s suppose you are poor, no car, not near public transportation, limited education–just how are you going to meet this requirement? And, have you ever tried to get a job over 55?
And, then there is food- over ONE MILLion people will lose SNAP in 2026 with work requirements- 80 hours per month for those 18-64 without dependents. And, veterans, homeless individuals and young adults aging out of foster car are not longer exempted. Again, you are poor, no car, not near public transportation and have limited education and in the case of foster kids aging out of system- no home.
So we are spending BILLIONS are illegal immigrants while not feeding or providing healthcare to our most vulnerable. Not to mention $50 BILLION a WEEK on the war in Iran.
