At the time, I was watching Katie Kouric..first plane discribed as commuter plane –I thought drunk pilot. Then anothe bigger plane crashes into other tower. Stunned. No one on air says anything- silence. They say no word from government agencies. Times go by. A pipe bomb is discovered at the State Dept (never mentioned again). Then a plane crashes into the Pentagon. The trade center then collapses…unbelievable. Then a plane crashes outside of Pittsburgh. The government now says terrorists. All airports are closed. One (of many) horrifying videos was people jumping off the top the towers to their death…motivated by fireballs coming their way.
I called my friends as I once lived in NYC to determine their safety. All are ok. Country is in paralysis. Anthrax claims the lives of more people over the next months. No one knows where Bin Laden is. He funded the attacks shorting stocks in the stock market they would affected by the attacks and made millions. Israel and Palestine are pounding away at each other. Remember this is 2001.
It was probably the first time most Americans experienced war on our soil. Drones, lasers, software– the future of warfare will be changing. And with Ai, we can probably blow up outselves with an error. Live well today as who knows what tomorrow will bring. Hopefully more intelligence among all nations.
