- Recommends reduction in corporate tax rate to 15%. The 2017 TCJA permanently reduced the corporate tax rate from a statutory tax rate of 35 percent of taxable income to 21 percent. Trump would lower that rate to 15 percent. We should reward them for price gouging.
- Increase trade tariffs– 10%. This amount varies by speech from 20% on goods from other countries and 60% on China and even a 200% tax on some imported cars. Trump claims that these taxes are not going to cost you but another country. US companies pay the tariff and the result is either they have lower profits or pass on the price increase to you (inflation). Trump imposed a 40% tariff on imported washing machines in 2018 and the prices to US consumers increased by 12% and overall US consumers paid $1.5 billion a year in extra costs.
- National abortion ban. And MAGNA Project 2025 wants to ban contraceptives and ban and limit mail order abortion medication (63% of abortions).
- Wants to deport 1.3 million or 8.3 million unauthorized immigrant workers. The estimated cost over 10 years is nearly $1 trillion dollars. First he wanted local police to handle the deportation- they said they could not do it as their manpower is already stretched, now he says he would invoke emergency wartime powers, active the military reservists and rely on like-minded Republican governors to carry out the deportation. - Trump wants to eliminate the Affordable Care Act that currently provides healthcare to 45 million people. And, protects people with pre-existing conditions. Trump has NEVER had a health plan. As we used to say in Texas, big hat, no cattle.
- Trump is going to sell leases to drill for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and open coal mining on federal land in western states. Trump withdrew the US from the Paris Agreement – an international pact to fight climate change. Bottom line- he cares more about money than the environment.
- If Trump lowers corporate taxes and increases military spending, where do you think the money for the federal government will come from – cuts in Social Security and Medicare. Be ready to take your parents into your home. Elon Musk wants to cut $2 trillion from the federal budget- guess where it will come from.
- Trump encouraged and led a coup on January 6 claiming he won the last election and has intimidated GOP members to say he won. In third world countries, he would have been evicted from the country. And, now the Supreme Court has given him immunity. Democracy- really? More an autocrat. In 2016 he lost the popular vote by 2.9 million votes and only became president because of the electoral college. In 2020, Trump lost by 1 million votes vs. Biden.
