In partnership with the Afro-American Historical Association of the Niagara Frontier, join the temperature-controlled trolley for stories of notable African Americans resting inside our gates: political leaders, clergy, civil rights champions, business owners, soldiers, musicians, artists and more.
Shirley Chisholm is interred in the Forest Lawn’s Mausoleum. She was the first black woman to serve in Congress and was a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus in 1971 and the Women’s Caucus in 1977. She was awesome.
Rick James is also bureied there -Grammy award winning musician- “Super Freak” song in particular and Mary Talbert- civil rights activist, anti-lynching movement and advocate for women’s rights.
