BPO Music Director JoAnn Falletta will lead the program, which celebrates community and highlights great works by Black composers including Florence Price, Adolphus Hailstork, Nkeiru Okoye, and Duke Ellington. Conductor Diversity Fellow Fernanda Lastra will also take the podium. The concert will feature the Buffalo United Community Choir (BUCC), made up of 100-plus voices from 42 local churches and organizations. Buffalo native vocalist, music educator, and co-director of BUCC Karen Saxon will solo, and fellow BUCC music director Ella E. Robinson will conduct the choir.
