ERIE COUNTY Social Services- Day Care, Heap, Food, etc
Also, having been in a similar situation due to an auto accident, apply for HEAP, sell stuff on Craigs list (do garbage runs around the neighborhood- I used to make $600 a month this way), use Tracfone if you aren’t already. Hang in there- tough at the holidays. Others are in the same boat.
We do not have an experience with this organization but what do you have to lose.
Utilities- HEAP and another fund you can apply for after it runs out at Salvation Army, 960 Main Street, 883-9800. Note in January Heap recipients received $100 credit on their NYSEG bill from pandemic relief funds.
Food– https://www.feedmorewny.org/
Tracfone– you can probably use the phone you have and get another SIM card. Call them. The new SIM card was $4 last time I got one. And, because you pay none of those taxes, you save immediately. I pay $12.50 a month. Check it out.
ROKU– Nothing is worse than struggling financially and having huge cable bills– but since you can not afford (and now “staying home”), the TV provides an essential part of entertainment and well-being. However, ROKU will cost you $25 at Best Buy . You can use NewsOn (free channel on ROKU) to get Channel 2 news, CBS, NBC, etc. plus Netflix ($8.99 a month), Youtube channel (free on ROKU) and you can get entertained for a one time charge of $25 and then $9 a month for Netflix. However, there are some limitations- you will not get the football games unless you sign up for HULU (still cheaper than cable at around $5.99 to $11.99 a month). Bottom line, you can save a bundle vs. Spectrum. Roku- stick- you just put in usb outlet on back of TV. Done. Or, to get local channels get a $39 aerial.
