The Buffalo Jazz Collective will pay tribute to Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn with a special program. Students from the Southtowns Youth Jazz Orchestra will greet audience members with music beginning at 6:30.
At 7:30, the Buffalo Jazz Collective Sextet will perform a set of music from the Ellington/Strayhorn songbook including favorites such as “Take the A Train” and lesser-known works such as “Isfahan” from the Far East Suite. In addition, live-streamed video from the 2019 International host city of Melbourne, Australia will be interspersed throughout the evening.
