Let the NY DEC and NY State Assembly Know What You Think About Their Plans to Ban Gas Mowers and Leaf Blowers. There is already at statewide burn ban that went into effect March 16. There is a bill before the NY State Assembly that is being considered that prohibits the sale of gas mowers and blowers that would be enacted January 1, 2025. You would have to use electric if you buy a new mower. Think about all those gas riding lawn mowers.
With the push towards electric cars, electric heat and appliances and now electric mowers, we believe there lies a risk on one source for energy. Time will tell. A disruption in electric in the winter and people will be freezing to death. We believe in dual energy sourcing. Not to mention a terrorist target.
Most of NYC’s electricity is generated by burning fossil fuels, representing about a quarter of the city’s total greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs). By the end of 2021, the local electric grid to be approximately 85% powered by fossil fuels.

New York State has a law that bans the installation of fossil fuel equipment in new buildings, including gas-powered stoves, furnaces, and propane heating. The law, known as the All-Electric Buildings Law, was approved by Governor Kathy Hochul in spring 2023 and is set to take effect in 2026 for buildings with seven stories or less and in 2029 for taller buildings. The law does not apply to existing buildings.

By 2030, New York expects 70% of its electricity to come from renewables, and by 2040, it aims to have a zero emissions grid with 90% renewable resources and 10% zero emission resources.
