Amherst State Park includes approximately 77 acres of State-owned land and approximately 3 acres of Town-owned land in the Town of Amherst, Erie County, New York. It is located directly north of the Village of Williamsville between Glen Avenue and Sheridan Drive. The highlight of the park is Ellicott Creek and the property also features wooded areas, meadows, old orchards and formally landscaped grounds.
The park offers hiking, family and small group picnicking, bird watching, fishing, walking, jogging, and dog walking.
Main Access point is 400 Mill Street in Amherst.
Nature Trails
1. Veterans Memorial Trail (White Trail) – This trail can be accessed at the Park exit road on Mill Street and leads to the Park parking lot at the top of the slope.
2. North-South Ellicott Creek Trails (Green Trail) – This trail can be accessed from the Park parking lot at the top of the slope or from the parking lot at Glen Park to the east of Ellicott Creek.
3. East Slope and Orchard Trail (Red Trail) – This trail can be accessed from the Park parking lot at the top of the slope
4. West Slope Trail (Pink Trail) – This trail can be accessed from the Park parking lot at the top of the slope
5. West Orchard and Ellicott Creek Trails (Light Blue Trail) – This trail can be accessed from the Park parking lot at the top of the slope
6. West Ellicott Creek Trail (Orange Trail) – This trail can be accessed from the Park parking lot at the top of the slope
7. Reist Mill Trail (Yellow Trail) – This trail can be accessed from the Park parking lot at the top of the slope.
8. Reist Mill Complex Trail (Light Purple Trail) – This trail can be accessed from the Park parking lot at the top of the slope
