According to the New York State Comptroller’s website, the state returns $1.5 million everyday to those that file a claim for unclaimed funds.  The money in unclaimed funds come from inactive bank accounts, uncollected insurance policies or refunds, amounts due for undelivered goods or services, abandoned stocks, uncashed checks, etc.
