Penn Dixie offers a great place for kids to fossil hunt–it is a large area that has been excavated so the shale and fossils are showing.  Just bring a grocery bag and you are all set.  If parents want to get more ambitious, bring a hammer and chisel to break shale apart.  Adults are $9, kids 12 and under are $7, kids under 2 are free.

Penn Dixie also has Evening Astronomy Programs, occasional birding, a Nature Cruise and Lighthouse Tour and in the winter cross country skiing.
