The West Side Invitational Regatta on July 14 starting at 9am to 3pm and is considered the longest existing regatta in western New York. It’s held on the grounds of the West Side Rowing Club on the Black Rock Canal. The race features the best collegiate and high school rowers in the region, and awards a points trophy to the winning club. That trophy has remained in Buffalo for the last two years.
This year, there’s an entirely new viewing vantage point along the Black Rock Channel that is accessible by the new pedestrian/bike path and bridge. And below that is a grassy hill that is perfect for bringing along a picnic. Come cheer on the hometown rowers.
