Republicans Deny Healthcare Credits Affecting 44 Million People In Return for Ending Shutdown
The Senate passed a bill to end shutdown, however, the House and Trump have to approve it.
Since Trump and the GOP are totally unwilling to care about the healthcare of Americans, once again they deny healthcare credits for those covered by the Affordable Care Act. And illegal immigrants can NOT get healthcare through ACA and can only get healthcare in some states if it is an emergency. As for the Trump administration – he had four years previously saying he was going to replace ACA with a great plan, right…still waiting.
Democrats folded on the shutdown because SOMEBODY has to care about the ordinary people affected by the shutdown. Now we just have to deal with soaring prices on food, utilities and insurance. And, the impact of tariffs—commercial real estate defaults rising and an average tax increase from tariffs per HH of $1200 in 2025 and $1600 in 2026. So, much for the income tax reduction – totally a wash…except for the wealthy and corporations. And, interest rates on credit cards—28%– what we used to call loan shark rates. And, the US bond market yields are declining- a strong bond market indicates investor confidence in the economy.
And, job security- layoffs are impacting the economy as well…153,074 just in October 2025 alone and 4286 companies have announced mass layoffs. Add these to the Trump/Elon federal firings and lots of people are unemployed or will be.These are just a few layoffs announced or implemented:
Amazon- 14,000
UPS- 48,000
Intel- 20,000
Microsoft-6,000
Salesforce- 4,000
Meta- 600
Applied Materials- 1400
Frito Lay- 454
Chegg- 388
Rivian- 600
Our recommendation- save your money, re-evaluate your stocks if you have them, reduce credit card debit, re-examine your monthly outlays—buy a lot of your food at Aldi and Dollar Store, use Roku instead of Spectrum, explore cheapest cellphone plans, take the NY Defense Driving Course and get a 10% reduce for three years on your insurance (learn more), make your holiday gifts rather than buying.
