Trump Administration Rolls Back Auto Fuel Efficiency Standards with 20 States Suing – will end up in Supreme Court eventually. The roll back result is a BILLION tons more of carbon dioxide will be emitted vs. standards being implemented in Europe and Asia. The new rule, which is expected to be implemented by late spring, will roll back a 2012 rule that required automakers’ fleets to average about 54 miles per gallon by 2025 reducing greenhouse gas emissions 3.7% EACH YEAR.
The result of the new rule is that it lowers the price of new cars and light trucks by $1000 but increases the amount consumers pay for gas by $1400 plus polluting the environment and in the end cost the American economy between $13 and $22 Billion.
June, 2019- 17 automakers sent a letter to President Trump to NOT roll back the standards
SO, besides causing more greenhouse gas and the automakers not wanting to roll back the standards, AND costing $1400 more for consumers to buy gas, one has to question Trump’s administration actions.
