Reasons Why You Should Vote for Hochul
- Hochul started a nationwide concern about electricity and water usage by Data Centers and put a hold on their development. Currently 90% of existing data centers use less than 50 megawatts, the new centers use 1000 to 4000 megawatts of electricity. Additionally, they use huge amounts of water for cooling- often one to five million gallons per day with medium ones using 300,000. Then the impact does the water they use- chemical discharge, increased nitrate contamination in groundwater and sediment runoff for their sites.

- Delivered $27 million in roadway projects in Erie and Niagara Counties. This includes Amherst North French Road and Campbell Blvd, Orchard Park Armor Duells Road, South Transit Road and a bridge project in Evans.
- Secured $20 million for Erie County Water Authority towards a $80 million infrastructure overhaul upgrading Lake Erie water treatment filters.
- Awarded Village of Hamburg $4.5 million to revitalize local business district.

Reasons Why You Should NOT Vote for Bruce Blakeman
- Do you really think a millionaire from Long Island is going to care about Buffalo? Hochul is from Hamburg. The Median HH income of Nassau Cty is $146,202 while Buffalo’s is $50,041.
- Bruce Bakeman loves Data Centers and wants to proceed full force. Of course, not in his backyard. There is ONE data center in Nassau County. There are 4 commercial data centers in Erie County. He opposes the moratorium.
- Proposes a state tax program that would eliminate $35 billion from the state budget while Hochul focuses on low and middle income families with children and providing free school meals. With Blakeman- a married couple earing $250,000 would see their state taxes drop from $13,000 to $6,000. His follow thru lacks based on history. His elimination of state income taxes on the first $50,000 of individuals and first $100,000 of married couples will provide a greater benefit for the wealthy and he offers no explanation of where the cuts in the state budget would come from. He says from immigration but only $2.7 billion has been spent on emergency programs to date.
- Promises to slash energy bills (no details for electricity and since he loves data centers- it would go up) and wants to remove ban on fracking which was banned because of its high risks to drinking water and air quality. Fracking wells leak 6% upon construction and 15 years later 30% leak. Additionally, chemical and fluid spills at fracking sites reach up to12.2% and 48% of those reach groundwater.
- Wants to repeal the Solitary Confinement Act (which is a federal act, not a state act which means that prisoners can not be confined to their cells alone 24 hrs a day). He wants to allow solitary confinement.

Here is what Nassau County has to say-Mr. Blakeman promised to deliver tax cuts – but there hasn’t been one. Rather than use $385 million in federal pandemic relief funds to directly help families and small businesses, he used it to cover budget deficits. And, instead of giving the people tax breaks, he wasted tens of millions of dollars on politically connected lawyers, parades, and galas.
As families get crushed by soaring prices from the tariffs that Blakeman supported with his Rose Garden appearance, this is a critical failure. Now, we’re hearing new promises about working across the aisle to get things done. The truth is that Mr. Blakeman is one of the most partisan elected officials . Mr. Blakeman sat on nearly $100 million in opioid settlement funds, intended to prevent addiction and save lives, just to make his budget look better. Ninety recent of these funds remain unspent – all while families continue to lose loved ones to addiction and overdoses. Mr. Blakeman continues to divert Nassau County detectives to assist ICE – all while a critical detective shortage remains unaddressed.
There has been no transparency from the Blakeman administration on why Nassau taxpayers should be covering the costs of an agency that just got $75 billion in new federal funding. While all of this was happening, he has failed the basics. He promised billions of dollars in economic development at the Hub and at Nassau Community College but did not deliver a dime.
Nassau University Medical Center was so dysfunctional that the State was forced to take it over to save our only safety-net hospital. Routine tasks – such as filling potholes in County roads – are ignored.
