Events on Martin Luther King Jr Weekend in Buffalo, NY from January 15 to 17, 2022.

1Kids Day at Buffalo Botanical Gardens- FREE for Kids –January 2017, 2022 from 10am to 4pm.-  Kids 12 and under are free. E-tickets required. Adults $14, Seniors and students- $13, Kids free on January 17 otherwise $7.50 for 3-12.

2.Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Observance hosted by Christopher Jackson on WNED at 5pm on January 15, 2022.Christopher Jackson is a Grammy and Emmy Award-winning songwriter/composer as well as a Tony Award-nominated actor best known for starring as George Washington in the critically acclaimed, award-winning Broadway musical “Hamilton.” He can currently be seen starring in the hit CBS drama “Bull” and recently finished performing in a limited run of “Freestyle Love Supreme” on BroadwayHe also starred in Ava DuVernay’s Netflix mini-series “When They See Us.”

3MLK Day of Service at UB will be VIRTUAL on January 17, 2022 from 9am to Noon. Normally, students will meet in the Student Union of the North Campus and are taken to a specific location in the Buffalo Community to participate in a community service activity.  Transportation provided but an RSVP through UBLinked is required as space is limited.

4. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Commemoration Celebration – January 17, 2022 at 10am and Noon at Calvary Baptist Church, 1184 Genesee Street, Buffalo. Questions – 895-3642. Guest Speaker- Rev. Julian Cook.

7. Rainbow Rink – 101 Oliver Street, N. Tonawanda –January 17, 2022- Noon to 4pm. Cost is $8 – $4 for skate rental.

8. Rotary Rink – 40 Fountain Plaza, Buffalo.  Free – skate rental $2 for kids, $3 for adults. More ice skating rinks (from2020 but the same. Saturday – 11am to 8pm, Sunday 11am to 6pm

9. Lasertron – 5101 N. Bailey Ave., Amherst. Will have a special promo. Check the link or call 833-8766. Friday- 3pm to 10pm, Saturday – 1pm to 11pm, and Sunday 1pm to 10pm.

10. Open Skating and Ice Bikes at Canalside– January 17, 2022 open 10am to 6pm.  Ages 6-12-$5, Ages 13+-$7, Ages 5 and under are free.

11.Erie County Parks- Sledding, Ice Skating, XC Skiing, Snowboarding, Snowshoeing, Tobagganing

11. FREE -Downhill Skiing at Chestnut Ridge Park in Orchard Park with new tow rope – which can bring up to 720 people per hour back up the hill. Wed- Friday – 3pm to7pm, Saturday,Sunday and Holidays- 10am to 7pm.  Also, Toboggan -10am to 4pm, Sledding- 10am to 8pm. Learn More.

12. Martin Luther King Jr. Day at Explore and More Children’s Museum- January 17, 2022 from 10am to 4pm. $5 admission for everyone.  Celebrate MLK legacy with stories, craft and activities throughout the museum. 130 Main Street.

13. Ice Skating at  Canalside- 10am to 6pm – $1 discount on admission and skate rentals

Winter Blast at Martin Luther King Jr. Park on January 20 from Noon to 2pm at the park casino. Pond Ice Skating (weather dependent), skate rental, Albright Knox Art Truck, Snowshoe trails, Buffalo Museum of Science, Face painting, cookie decorating, healthy snacks and beverages provided by Wegmans.
