Bird populations are declining with global warming and loss of habitat resulting in a decline of almost 3 BILLION birds or 29% of the 1970 figures (Kenneth Rosenberg – Science Journal).

Warblers, blackbirds, larks, finches and swallows account for 90% of bird loss. However a few species have gained- turkeys, grouse, raptors, ducks and geese. Chickadees, woodpeckers and nuthatches are down almost 20% and redpolls, siskins, grosbeaks and crossbills are down over 30%.

Keep cats indoors (they kill 1.3 to 3.7 billion birds annually and 6.3 to 22.3 billion mammals annually (Smithsonian and US Fish and Wildlife)
