Chicago Chinese New Year Events including Argyle Lunar New Year Parade, Chinatown Parade, Chicago Symphony Chinese New Year Celebration and Navy Pier and dining events. This year is the Year of the Rat.

February 1 at 3:30pm – Chinese New Year Dumpling Making Dinner at Hing Kee Restaurant, 2140 S. Archer Ave., 2nd Floor. Tickets are $40

February 1– Noon to 4pm – Argyle Lunar New Year Parade– Parade will kick-off at Argyle & Winthrop promptly at 1:00 PM and will head east along Argyle St., south along Sheridan Rd., west along Ainslie St., and north along Broadway back to Argyle St.

February 1 from 2pm to 3:30pm –Apple, 401 Michigan Ave. Music, dance, and kung fu with the Chinese Fine Arts Society. Tuvergan Band will play traditional Chinese music while Hao Dance performs, followed by kung fu from Guili Wang.

February 1– 7 to 10pm  – Chinese New Year Gala at Harris Theater for Music and Dance, 205 East Randolph Street. Singing, acrobatics, magic, opera, dance, music. Tickets are $38.

February 8– from 1pm to 7:30pm – Chicago Art Institute- 111 S. Michigan Ave. Artmarking,  music, games puppet performance, Asian art gallery.

February 8 at 5pm- Millennium Park – lantern procession to Maggie Daley Park. Lion dancing, art making, ice skating.

February 9, 2020 – 2-4pm – Chinese American Museum of Chicago, 238 West 23rd St. Tickets are $10. Music, food, arts and crafts.

January 25, 2020- 1-5pm – Chinese New Year- FREE – Navy Pier -Aon Grand Ballroom – dancing, music, food and crafts, martial arts. Check out the list of performers-looks good.

January 25, 2020– Chinatown Parade – 1-3pm – 24th and Wentworth- north on Wentworth to Cermak featuring marching bands, floats and lion dances

January 26, 2020- 3pm – Chicago Symphony Chinese New Year Celebration featuring Shanghai Chinese Orchestra and Zhejiang Shaoju Opera Theatre. Pre-concert performance at Buntrock Hall from 1:30 to 2:30pm with Dong Fang and Yellow River Performing Arts. Tickets are $28
