A note from Roger Scott, seasoned Animator and Animation Instructor at LSA:
“Historically, the film marks the end of an era at Disney. Lady and the Tramp was the last feature animated entirely using hand brush-inked cels, a labor-intensive technique that gave the studio’s early classics their soft, elegant linework. Afterward, Disney adopted the Xerox process to reduce costs and preserve animators’ pencil lines, making the film a poignant farewell to one of animation’s most meticulous crafts.”
