The Roycroft Film Society will screen the film Tampopo on May 6, 2018 at 4pm at the Parkdale Elementary School at 141 Girard Street. (Route 400, Maple St exit, right off exit onto Maple, Right on Girard, School on left, entrance on left). $8 or $20 for single membership or $30 for a family.

Tampopo revolves around a truck driver, Goro, who rides into town like a modern Shane and happens upon a small family-run noodle shop. He eventual decides to guide the widow of the shop on her quest for find and create the perfect recipe. It unfolds as a series of madcap, effortlessly charming comic vignettes, and is reminiscent of familiar Hollywood genres like the Western and sports movies. Moving from the erotic, the absurd, and the tragic, the film’s representation of food give us access to the most intimate areas of people’s lives, reminding us of the unique place that food occupies in our humanity.

Tampopo has received unanimous praise from critics, with a 100% approval rating from Rotten Tomatoes.
