Ten Million Restoration for Times Beach Nature Preserve- Announced by Brian Higgins. This amazing nature area was significantly damaged in 2019 by a storm and seiche. Having often gone there to enjoy the wildlife, this restoration is terrific. Migrating monarch butterflies, wading birds, waterfowl and migrating birds plus other wildlife. 230 species of birds on this 45 acres of wetland.The monies will repair the dike wall, boardwalks and walkways.
Higgins also have proposed a $189 million plans funded through the new infrastructure bill and money from the New York State Power Authority that would create a new parkland (moving the Coast Guard Station), renovate the Erie Basin Marina and build two new parkways leading towards the waterfront.
Other projects that received funding – $300,000 for improvements to Old Fort Niagara, $100,00 to complete construction work at Broderick Park, $100,00 for Scajaquada Creek and $75,000 for the Lake Ontario Golden Hill State Park Lighthouse.
