The film is a complex plot that involves multiple characters, subplots, twists and flashbacks. At the time, leads Guy Pearce and Russell Crowe were rather unknowns in America, but this picture would make them stars. They are surrounded by a stellar cast including Kevin Spacey, Kim Basinger, Danny Devito, and James Cromwell.
