The Claw
So, to celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday (and his 80th), Trump decides to set up a 4000 seat octagon and towering overhead lighting known as “the Claw” for mixed martial arts- UFC. The claw is 22 feet taller than the White House and is 92 feet tall.
So appropriate for our 250th anniversary. Seats, invite only for military and VIP’s, is paid for the UFC at the cost of $60 million. Of course, Trump buys $50,000in TKO stock which owns UFC—talk about insider trading. Susan Wiles, Trump’s chief of staff, is a friend of UFC President Dana White.
And, the best part, Trump wants to leave the “Claw” up permanently and compared it to the Eiffel Tower. Unbelievable
Ballroom from Hell
Next, the “ballroom from hell” at the White House. Remember, privately funded for $400 million, 90,000 square foot ballroom. Then Trump wanted the public to pay $1 billion for it since some of his backers backed out. Then Trump says the money is needed for security- mind you the windows are 24 feet high and seven inches thick (like that will deter a bomb) that seats 1000 guests. If you were concerned about security, would you have large windows and 1000 important guests in one place?
Currently below ground construction is going on, the $1 billion funding got defeated in Congress and the National Trust for Historic Preservation still has an ongoing lawsuit which will be going to Supreme Court at some point.
Arc de Trump
Construction of the 250 foot high arc near the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington Cemetery is still in the planning and approval phase. Expected cost- $100 million. Who is going to pay – yes taxpayers and of course, Trump says a few private donations (recall how that worked for ballroom). Veterans are suing to stop the President as it is located near the main entrance to the Arlington National Cemetery.
The Arc is 180 feet taller than the White House (70 feet tall) and 86 feet taller than the Paris Arc de Triomphe. Congressional Democrats has introduced a bill to stop construction and get Congressional approval which then subsequently shot down by Republicans. And so it goes… a Congress that is deaf to the public and loyal only to Trump.
To provide a comparison- Lincoln Memorial- 99 feet tall, US Capitol- 288 feet, White House- 70 feet.
