Watch NASA spacecraft slam into an asteroid this evening, September 26, with a live broadcast on NASA’s website beginning at 6pm EST and last until 7:30pm. Website

NASA spacecraft will deliberately slam into an asteroid today to determine if this kind of mission can help deflect space objects posing a threat to Earth. The NASA Double Asteroid Redirection Test — or DART — aims to make history today at 7:14 p.m. ET when it makes impact with the asteroid. The DART spacecraft is about the size of a school bus and has been traveling to reach its target since launching in November 2021. The spacecraft is also carrying an imager that will share a live stream of photos as it nears the asteroid, providing a video-like experience for viewers.

You might recall the 1998 movie called Armageddon when an asteroid was headed to earth and a spaceship was sent to blow it up before it reached earth..Starring Bruce Willis, Billy Bob Thorton, Ben Affleck, Will Patton and Liv Tyler.

September 9, 2022- a 310 foot wide asteroid was headed to earth and pasted by on September 12. Another miss. But, may be a reality at some time in the future. Not good for earth….thank you Jupiter for bearing the brunt of many of these asteroids and comets.
