Bicycling in Central Park. There are various routes that range from around 2 to 6 miles. Although when the park is open to traffic the bikers’ lane is always available, it is not recommended. Below are the times when the park is closed to traffic.

Monday through Friday – 10am to 3pm and 7pm to 1am.

Weekends (Sat/Sun) – 6am – 1am

No permit required. Pedestrians have the right of way at all times. Yield at crosswalks to pedestrians.

Cycling is prohibited on pedestrian pathways.

Cyclists are required to obey all traffic laws such as traffic signals and stop signs and a maximum speed of 25mph.

Children under 14 must wear a helmet, a helmet is recommended for everybody.

TRAVEL MUST ALWAYS BE COUNTERCLOCKWISE AROUND THE PARK.

Cyclists must use only the outer half of the recreation lane when the drives are open to cars. When they are closed to cars, cyclists must stay out of the recreation lane which is for runners and walkers only.
